Going above and beyond the call of duty, the dedication and concern for their patients was shown recently by caretakers and administrators of Bradley Healthcare & Rehab Center. Many employees voluntarily came into the center on Sunday, the day before the recent snowstorm and stayed round the clock until the following Wednesday. They came becuse they wnated to make sure their patients were taken care of - snowstorm or no snowstorm. Concern for the patients was the only thing on their minds. In addition, others who work at the center served as shuttle drivers helping some get to and from work. The reason for these extra measures is the same reason John Stanbery, DDS, has been serving on the center's board for the past 12 years. "The Bradley Healthcare facility is the finest healthcare facility in town", Stanbery said. But his high regard for the center is just one of the reasons he served as the board's Vice Chairman, as well as why he accepted his new office of Chairman at the board's Tuesday meetng. He is following in his grandfathere's footsteps. His grandfather was part of the medical group that helped found the center in 1957. "I feel a conection to the community and the facility", he said.
The previous chair, Sandra Snider, just completed her maximum three year term. Stanbery gave Snider thanks and kudos for her "excellent job as chairperson". Two other current board members were also voted to office on the board. Wendy Beck, a current board member, was voted to her first term as Vice-Chairman. Josephine Frazier, a 20 year board member, served as the previous Secretary and was re-elected to continue her service.
In addition to the voting in of the new board members, a special plaque was awarded to previous board member, Ann Martin, with "a sincere degree of appreciation," said Joe Newcomb, Administrator for the center. "You mean a lot to everyone here." Martin has served a total of 16 years on the board. Part of the reason the center is in such "great shape now", Stanberry said, "is because of Ann Martin". "You mean a lot to me too", Martin said to everyone at the meeting. She said she would cherish the plaque and, more importantly, the meaning that goes with it. "I'm grateful I had the opportunity to serve on the board. Everything (at the center) is geared to help the patients".
